GFL\u2019s Full Circle Project Committee is delighted to announce the charities selected to receive donations as part of GFL\u2019s Green For WildLife Campaign.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, nine charities across Canada and the United States located in communities where GFL operates will be supported through the campaign, with each receiving a $2,500 donation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Green For WildLife campaign invited GFL employees to vote for different categories\u202fof at-risk wildlife or wildlife habitat that they wanted\u202fGFL to donate to in honor of Earth Day 2022 and this year\u2019s theme\u202fInvest in Our Planet<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Employees participated in three separate polls for April, May and June, to choose the winning category. The Full Circle Project Committee then selected three charities within each category to receive donations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 1000 responses were received for the polls.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks to all of our employees who took the time to participate in the Green For WildLife donation campaign and make it a huge success,\u201d said Jennifer Ahluwalia, vice-president, Environmental Responsibility and Sustainability. \u201cIt\u2019s important to recognize the broader environmental challenges that our planet faces today, and the Green For WildLife campaign allowed us to go beyond what we typically do for communities to support and promote local environmental and sustainability action while celebrating Earth Day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charities selected for May<\/strong> in the Rivers, Lakes, Oceans<\/strong> category are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ocean Wise Conservation Association<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1951 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Ocean Wise has grown into a global environmental charity that focuses on overfishing, ocean pollution and climate change. Ocean Wise Seafood is an ocean conservation program that empowers consumers and businesses to choose sustainable seafood options that support healthy oceans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Carolina Coastal Federation<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 40 years, the North Carolina Coastal Federation has worked with coastal communities to protect and restore the unique North Carolina coast through a variety of partnerships and programs such as clean coastal waters, living shorelines, thriving oysters, effective coastal management and marine debris removal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to the Sea Society<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to the Sea Society is a charity dedicated to sparking curiosity about local marine life off the coast of Nova Scotia, and fostering a desire to protect our oceans through programming such as tidal nature walks (Tidal Trekkers) and a Touch Tank Hut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charities selected for June<\/strong> in the Birds and Pollinators<\/strong> category are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pollinator Partnership Canada<\/strong><\/a>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pollinator Partnership Canada (P2C) is a registered charity dedicated to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems through conservation, education and research. Their programs include pollinator-friendly planting guidance across Canada for backyard gardeners to farmers, and school garden and curriculum kits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Eagle Foundation<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 35 years, the American Eagle Foundation has been dedicated to inspiring the global community to guard and protect the Bald Eagle and other birds of prey. Their programs are based on the three pillars of conservation, education and protection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wild Bird Rehabilitation<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wild Bird Rehabilitation is the primary organization in Missouri that solely focuses on caring for songbirds. Their mission is to ensure the survival of native songbirds by providing professional medical care to the birds and educating the public about the humane treatment of wild songbirds and habitat conservation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charities selected for July<\/strong> in the Mammals<\/strong> category are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Procyon Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located near Beeton, Ontario, Procyon Wildlife\u2019s goals are to rescue, rehabilitate and safely release wild animals. Trained volunteers look after hundreds of orphaned and injured wild animals each year. The animals are released back into their original habitat when they\u2019re healthy and able to fend for themselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends of Wildlife Prairie Park<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located just outside of Peoria, Illinois, this 1,800-acre zoological park is home to 60 different species and over 150 animals that are, or were, native to the area. Open year-round, guests can view wolves, bison, waterfowl, black bears, elk, otters, badgers, snakes, bobcats and more, in a beautiful natural landscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alabama Wildlife Federation Inc.<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established by sportsmen in 1935, the Alabama Wildlife Federation is the oldest and largest non-profit conservation organization in Alabama. The AWF promotes the conservation and wise use of wildlife and natural resources through education, resource stewardship, and a variety of hunting and angling programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
